Baylor University – North Village Residential Community
The North Village Residential Community was Baylor University’s first new on-campus housing development in nearly 40 years. As part of a campus-wide effort to enhance the student living experience, the university engaged The Beck Group to deliver this project through a design-build partnership.
The project included three, four-story residential buildings — University House, Texana House, and Heritage House — totaling 235,000 SF and housing 600 students. Each building offered a mix of private and shared amenities, including apartment-style suites with private bathrooms and kitchens, common study spaces, laundry rooms, and lounges. A dedicated Community Center added classrooms, meeting rooms, a café, and additional student services.
Rooted in Baylor’s faith-based identity, the North Village incorporated spiritual design elements such as stained glass, thematic building names, and a Spiritual Walkway inscribed with Bible verses contributed by students. The project created a vibrant, residentially focused neighborhood that transformed the university’s approach to on-campus living.
Joe Tracy, now with CPM Texas, helped lead the successful delivery of the project during his tenure at Beck.
