Seaholm Power Plant Redevelopment

CPM Texas led the design and construction teams tasked with revitalizing the historic Seaholm Power Plant, transforming this dormant 1950s industrial landmark into a dynamic mixed-use development. Situated near Lady Bird Lake in downtown Austin, this project balanced historical preservation with modern innovation, bringing new life to the city’s urban core.

The redevelopment, part of a Public-Private Partnership, required extensive collaboration with City Boards and Commissions, stakeholder groups, and neighborhood associations to align with community goals and priorities.

Key Elements of the Seaholm Project:

  • Renovation and conversion of the 1950s power plant into creative office spaces and restaurant venues, preserving the building’s historic character.

  • New construction of a two-story mixed-use building, designed for retail and office uses.

  • New construction of a thirty-story mixed-use tower featuring ground-floor restaurant and retail spaces, blending seamlessly into the vibrant urban environment.

CPM’s leadership ensured the successful execution of this transformative project, which now stands as a celebrated hub for culture, business, and community in downtown Austin.
