UT Austin – Norman Hackerman Building
Members of CPM’s leadership team, including John Duke and Andrew Stauch, played key roles in the delivery of the Norman Hackerman Building (NHB) while at The Beck Group. Located on the University of Texas at Austin campus, NHB is a 320,000 SF, LEED Gold-certified facility that supports interdisciplinary teaching and research within the College of Natural Sciences.
This 7-story life sciences building includes advanced core research infrastructure such as a vivarium, NMR and MRI suites, an Electron Microscopy Core Facility, and dedicated space for Neuroscience, Inorganic Chemistry, and the Center for Learning and Memory. The project also includes administrative offices, classrooms, and technology-rich instructional labs designed to support collaboration and flexibility.
To make way for the new facility, the project team demolished a 55-year-old science building on a highly constrained, urban campus site. Delivery required close coordination with UT stakeholders, innovative systems integration, and a strong focus on energy performance to meet campus sustainability goals.
